In these times of social media and personal branding, sharing is no longer caring. Sharing is harmful: it harmed our phone data, eyes, and ego. My friends who have depression for envying others or are unable to share a life they haven’t lived are enormous.
When Facebook first emerged, I made several accounts because I have too much to share–mostly my thoughts, or my hate toward certain people. But as I got older, and social media launched on many platforms, I got into the algorithm to use only those that are relevant to me.

Facebook is no longer relevant, I seldom use it. Linkedin never give me any benefit, probably just old friends who were looking for work. I tried to look for work, applying for jobs when the pandemic took my business away, but either with LinkedIn or with the old ways of applying through website or email, I never get a job that way.
So I concluded, that for me as a writer and creator, social media is more like an exhibition space, a wall to put your posters and announcement. I don’t share anymore; instead I exhibit my work to promote, campaign a cause, sparks discussion, and educate. No more sharing personal experience, unless I copy edit it to be a body of work that I like. Instagram, tiktok, youtube is like that for me. While facebook have changed to be a content management tool, and business tool–I have to re-learn it.
So don’t share anything personal. Don’t share food or baby or traveling pictures unless you make is as a work of art. Unless you want to be entangled in the virtual reality trap, that you are forcing yourself and others on a larger than life expectations. The only sharing that is caring is on the real world, with real present (s). If you are unable to share to social media, please be mindful, be healthy social media is nothing but a representation. Most of it are lies.
P.S. I still think Linkedin is the most pretentious of all the social media platform. That thing is reek of neoliberal capitalism, a disgrace for human dignity. I won’t play by its rules.
